The Experiment: Finding the Hidden Talent in the Gear
During my travels in Kenya, I wanted to see if a traditional photo camera like the Nikon D850 could deliver high end video in the field. This project was a spontaneous challenge to work with what I had and produce something that exceeded expectations. While the D850 is celebrated for its photography, I wanted to uncover its potential for capturing the raw and fluid motion of the African savannah.

The Process: Knowledge and Intuition Over Equipment
This film was created on the go without a preplanned concept or a specialized film crew. My understanding of wildlife from my previous studies allowed me to anticipate animal behavior and wait for the right light. By relying on observation and a steady hand, I focused on making the most of a simple setup. The result is a series of cinematic moments that prove the eye of the filmmaker is just as important as the latest technology.
A Grounded Look at the Wild
The final clip is a personal record of my time in the national parks. It is an honest look at the Kenyan landscape, captured with a camera that is often overlooked for video work. This project shows that with a deep respect for nature and a solid grasp of your tools, you can transform a spontaneous trip into a professional visual story.
